Today’s article is not a thought piece or a commentary on a local, national, or global event.
Today’s article is a simple request and plea, to you, my Substack community and readers - can you throw up a prayer for MCKC Youth Camp?
For those who may not know, MCKC Youth Camp is a week long church summer camp for rising 6th graders through rising freshmen in college, where Korean churches in Michigan send their youth to have an opportunity to hear the Gospel and become apprentices to Jesus Christ or deepen their already existing relationship with Jesus.
“MCKC” stands for Michigan Council of Korean Churches and it’s a long standing organization within Michigan. The youth camp itself has now existed for over 40 years, it is actually the camp where I gave my life to the Lord and accepted the Good News back in 7th grade. Later, in my early and mid-twenties, I became the director of the camp and now I get to step in as the photographer for my second year in a row. What a privilege to serve and lead in a camp that I hold dear to my heart.
This year, we have 140+ students registered and the staff are pumped. These numbers are similar to pre-covid numbers for the camp and we believe the Lord is up to something radical this year. We are praying for deep hunger within these campers and to see revival and awakening among their generation (and ours as well).
As I mentioned earlier, if you’re reading this, please pray over the following:
Pray over the campers who have not accepted Jesus’ invitation to follow His Way, for them to accept His invitation and to find abundant and eternal life in Christ.
Pray over the campers who already are apprentices to Jesus, so they may deepen their abiding in the Lord.
Pray over our churches to be strengthened after the camp ends; for the returning youth to embolden their local church body. (May the next-generation lead the way!)
Pray over our guest speaker! She is actually a contributor to this newsletter () and is one of the best preachers I’ve ever heard. Please pray strength and resilience over her heart, mind, body, and soul. Along with the hearers of her words to be receptive as she preaches the Word of God.
Pray over the safety of our campers as we deal with this heat wave the week of camp.
Of course, there are many more things to pray for, but this is sufficient for this newsletter. To wrap it up, enjoy a few flicks of the staff during the times we spent preparing for this year’s camp.
Thank you!
Prayers up! It’s this week, right?
